Regional Hypertrophy Training
Ground-breaking research on muscle growth has recently proven what Michael has taught for years, which is that muscle growth NEVER happens evenly across the full length of a muscle
Rather, different sections or regions of each muscle (think “upper” vs “lower” biceps) GROW AT DIFFERENT RATES based on dozens of factors such as resistance angle, contraction speed, range of motion, single-joint vs multi-joint, concentric vs eccentric, etc. This phenomenon is called “Regional Hypertrophy”

You can specifically target the “lower abs” (inferior rectus abdominis) using posterior pelvic tilt, a motion that rotates your pelvis upwards. This technique leverages nonhomogeneous hypertrophy, allowing for focused muscle growth despite full-length fiber activation.

Week 9
Avoid the common mistake of letting your hands trail below your elbows during upright rows, as this can cause rotator cuff injuries. Instead, keep hands, elbows, and shoulders aligned at the top of each rep. Dumbbells are recommended over barbells for better form and motion control.

There are dozens of bodyweight exercises within each of the 8 major muscle group sections, so you really don’t need any equipment to benefit from the membership. However, in order to get the most out of it, I recommend that you have access to EITHER free weights (even if it’s just a set of dumbbells), OR a cable machine. If you have both, even better… however 99% of the cable exercises that are on there will have a free weight equivalent, and vice-versa, so as long as you have at least one or the other you’re all set!
The course material is all delivered via the Dr. Gains Online Platform (programs.dr-gains.com), which is accessible by – and compatible with – all devices (desktop, mobile, tablet, etc.). After purchasing the membership you will be directed to create your account (if it’s the first Dr. Gains program you’ve purchased), and login to the platform. If you register for any of the Dr. Gains full online programs as well, they will all be there!
